CHILDREN ON HORSES - Tuesday, May 15, 2012

NEW RULE: In the interests of Safety, the Executive Committee of ShowjumpingIreland has ruled as follows:
Children in their 12th year can compete in horse competitions with 2 named horses and the required approval from 2 Level II Coaches up to 1.10m.  Children in their 12th year can only compete at the 1.20m level in specific ‘Children on Horses’ competitions, again with the 2 horses named and two Level II Coach approval letters that have been received by the ShowjumpingIreland Office.

ULSTER REGION PONY & YOUNG RIDER QUALIFIER - Tuesday, May 08, 2012
IMPORTANT: THERE WILL NOW BE A REVISED SCHEDULE AT THE RDS PONY AND YOUNG RIDER QUALIFIER ORGANISED BY THE ULSTER REGION SJI COMMITTEE AT THE MEADOWS ON 19TH MAY 2012.

THERE WILL BE 3 ARENAS IN OPERATION. YOUNG RIDER CLASSES STARTING WITH 1.10m QUALIFIER WILL START AT 8AM IN ARENA 3 WHICH WILL BE ON GRASS.

128A QUALIFIER WILL BE HELD IN ARENA 2 AND COMMENCE AT 8AM.
148A QUALIFIER WILL BE THE FIRST CLASS IN ARENA 1 ALSO AT 8AM FOLLOWED BY THE 138A QUALIFIER.
 THE 6/7YO WILL TAKE PLACE IN ARENA 2 AFTER THE 128A CLASS.

Conor Swail took centre stage on Sunday when winning the opening leg of the TRM/SJI Premier Series with Lansdowne at the Horseware Louth County Show while on Saturday, Cian O'Connor continued his good run of form winning the TRM National Grand Prix League at Louth with Da Vinci's Pride.

WEEKEND UPDATE - Monday, April 16, 2012

Cian O'Connor stole the show at Mullingar on Saturday winning the HSI/Blue Grass Spring Tour with Da Vinci's Pride.  He almost did a double when finishing second to William McDonnell in Sunday's leg.

While abroad, the Irish Pony Team continued their success at Fontainbleau by winning Saturday's Nations Cup

HORSE LOCATION PREMISES TO BE REGISTERED - Thursday, April 05, 2012

IMPORTANT NOTICE: The Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Simon Coveney TD, has signed into law, a new order to require anyone who is the owner/person in charge of any premises in which horses or other equines (such as donkeys, ponies etc) are kept to register their premises with the Department. This Order completes the Department’s commitment to have a full register of premises on which all farmed animals are kept. Currently premises where cattle, sheep, pigs or poultry are kept must be registered.

LONDON OLYMPICS 2012 - Friday, March 02, 2012

It has been confirmed today, Friday, that Ireland have secured 2 Individual places at the 2012 London Olympics thanks to the very hard work and great results from Billy Twomey and Denis Lynch. The Irish Eventers have also secured places in London with a team of 3 Riders currently qualified and further 2 in the 1st and 3rd reserve places. Congratulations to all involved.

NATIONAL ANTI-DOPING RULES FOR ALL IRISH EQUESTRIAN DISCIPLINES INTROduced - Tuesday, February 07, 2012

NATIONAL anti-doping rules for all equestrian disciplines have been introduced in Ireland for the first time.

The new rules were passed unanimously at a board meeting of Horse Sport Ireland on Friday. The rules will come into effect in equestrian disciplines in Ireland from April 1st next.

Training which is open to all is planned for the following dates and venues in 2012.

Cost for all 4 sessions is £145(paid in advance) for SJI paid up members. £45 per individual lesson. If quotas are not filled at any of the venues then places may be available at a cost of £55 each.

Ulster Region Talent Identification Programme 2012

SJI (Ulster Region) Talent Identification Programme 2012

Supported by Sport N.I.

 

Under the above programme, the Ulster Region of SJI will continue to assess and monitor athletes for inclusion / continuation on the Talented Athlete Programme in 2012.  This programme is going into its third year in 2012 and has proved to be very successful, as the selected athletes receive monthly training / monitoring throughout the year from highly qualified coaches, at supported cost.

Once again the programme will take on a similar format, with one change - there will be no age limit in 2012, hence the selection process will be open to athletes of all ages who meet the required criteria.

The dates for the initial assessment are as follows:

15th February 2012 – Portmore Equestrian Centre – Assessment night for:

Children on Horses – Age 12 -14

Juniors – Age 14 – 18

Young Riders – Age 18 – 21

Seniors – 21+ competing at Regional Grand Prix level and above.

 

22nd February 2012 – Portmore Equestrian Centre – Assessment night for:

128, 138 and 148 Pony riders planning to compete in Spring Tour / RDS Qualifiers and Pony Premier Tour in 2012.

ULSTER TRAINING ASSESSMENT WEEKEND FOR YOUNG RIDERS

A Training and assessment weekend will be held at Necarne Castle

on 18th and 19th February 2012.

This weekend is open to all Ulster Region young riders over 16

on 1-1-12 and who have not attained their 23rd birthday on 1-1-2012.

Saturday will be a coaching day followed by assessment on the Sunday, with both days being compulsory.

Should it be that there are insufficient numbers to make both days viable then both coaching and assessment may be able to be carried out on one day.

Cost to be confirmed.

The top 10 riders will go forward to the All Ireland Final and from here riders will be selected for the National Training Clinic.
