Children in their 13th year are not permitted to ride horse stallions
Children in their 13th year cannot compete on a horse above 1.20m with a spread of 1.40m unless they make an application to the Sports Development Committee for Junior members who will seek a report on competence for a specific horse/rider combination from a Level 2 Coach.
It is to be encouraged that horse/rider combinations would participate in regional training.
Coloured Jackets
In order to maintain the approved dress code for show jumping, riders who wear coloured jackets other than those listed in the Rule Book – Navy, Black , Grey or Tweed – are requested to apply to ShowjumpingIreland for permission to wear non standard coloured jackets
National Grand Prix - Junior/Young Rider Section
Juniors and Young Riders will declare as normal with SJI office, stating which category they are eligible to jump in. These riders will be drawn as first to go in the Grand Prix eg 1 – 12, and will also go first in the jump off. Any Juniors or Young Riders that are on the elite training panel with HSI are not eligible to jump within this section.
They will jump the same track as senior riders in all but height. Heights will be 1.30Sm for the first round. If clear they will jump similar jump off track to senior riders, this track at 1.40m. If a Junior/Young Rider happens to win the class they will be obliged to jump at senior level within the National GP league and automatically go onto the elite training panel. They can only jump one horse in this section; any other horses must be jumped in the senior section.
The course will be set at 1.40m for the course walk and will then be lowered for the first Young Rider when applicable.
