ISH Studbook Showjumping Series 2014 – Finals at Tattersalls

The 2014 Irish Sport Horse Studbook Showjumping Series culminates this weekend with the eight and final leg taking place at the Tattersalls Ward Union Hunt Show, which runs from 26th to 27th July. At each leg of this year’s Series there has been €9,500 in prize money on offer from Horse Sport Ireland. At Tattersalls there will be a grand total prize fund of €13,500 up for grabs. As at the other legs there will be €3,500 for the 5 year old classes, €3,000 for the 6 year old classes and €3,000 for the 7 year old classes. In addition, there will be €1,500 in League prizes and €2,550 in Breeders prizes on offer.

All six classes at Tattersalls will be run as against the clock. Saturday’s three qualifiers will run as two phase classes with the second round against the clock to decide on the top 25 combinations who will qualify for Sunday’s finals. Sunday’s finals will culminate in jump-off classes, where not only the finals will be won but the League winners will be decided. Entries are strong for the final leg of this year’s Series with 88 5 year olds, 46 6 year olds and 30 7 year olds set to compete. Start lists for Saturday’s finals are available by clicking on the links below.

While the 7 Year Old League has already been decided, with Harold McGahern’s Rincoola Rua (ISH) and Edward Butler now unbeatable, it is all to play for in the 5 Year Old and 6 Year Old Leagues. Aside from the accolade of League victory, there is also Lanaken selection to be considered with the top three horses in the 5 and 6 year old Leagues and the top two horses in the 7 year old League gaining automatic selection to represent the Irish Sport Horse Studbook at the FEI WBFSH World Breeding Jumping Championships for Young Horses, which takes place in Lanaken, Belgium, in September of this year. Sunday’s finals are set to be hotly contested and riders should note that in the event of equality in terms of points in the League, the final placings will be determined by places achieved at Tattersalls. The current League standings, as well as the Lanaken selection criteria, can be viewed under the Breeding section of the HSI website by clicking on the ISH Studbook Showjumping Series link.

Jumping action will kick off at 10am with the 5 year old qualifier at the Ratoath venue on Saturday. All are welcome to attend.
