Fearon on Time to claim the honours in Mullingar National Grand Prix.

Neal Fearon secured the victory in the eighth round of the Showjumping Ireland National Grand Prix League with Billy On Time.

Coming out in front in a 21-horse decider, Fearon set an unbeatable standard of a clear round in a time of 40.98 seconds to claim the honours in Saturday’s €3,000 feature class at the Mullingar International Show.

By Billy Congo, the nine-year-old Billy On Time has been partnered with Fearon from the middle of last season with the pair showing impressive form to take a top five finish in the Seven and Eight-Year-Old International final at the Dublin Horse Show. This season Fearon and Billy On Time have already featured at the MET tour in Oliva Nova.

Kenneth Graham came closest to the time with the Limmerick-sired Lyrical stopping the clock at 41.44. Graham has been active in the Showjumping Ireland National Grand Prix League, already with a win to his name having taken the opening round at Louth County with George.

Liam O’Meara ensured his position at the top of the leader board remained secure when taking third position with Mr. Coolcaum, across the line in 41.46. With four consecutive wins on the board as well as three placings, O’Meara is well clear of any rivals at this early stage of the league.

Young rider Cormac Foley secured the green rosette. Riding the 15-year-old Kannan-sired Ballylynch Wizard, Foley broke the beams in 42.24. Mullingar has proven to be a happy hunting ground for Foley, having triumphed in the 1.35/1.40m Young Rider RDS qualifier at the venue last month.

Heinrich Anhold proved fractionally slower when steering KMS Clintland around the shortened and raised course in a time of 42.84 while providing the only other double clear on the day to take sixth position in the line-up was Francis Connors and Erne Lady Goldilocks, completing in 47.71.

Coilog Equestrian will host the next round of the Showjumping Ireland National Grand Prix League on Sunday 11th June.
