BREEN BAGS ANOTHER AUTUMN GRAND PRIX

Trevor Breen regained his leaders position in the Botanica/ShowjumpingIreland Autumn Grand Prix when winning his third Autumn Grand Prix with Adventure De Kannan in Portmore on Sunday.

The Tipperary rider capitalised from Conor Swail's adsence to move seven points clear at the head of affairs with just two legs remaining.  Adventure De Kannan has proved some what of a revelation this Autumn winning two Autumn Grand Prix in Cavan along with the Cavan International Grand Prix and the Hickstead Speed Derby during the summer.  He produced another double clear in a time of 26.52 to take the red ribbon.

Local rider Edward Little slotted into second with David Prentice's Kalvinretto.  The pair who are reportedly now finished for the season did enough to take second place with another fine double clear in 27.56.  They finished just ahead of Frank Curran on Pepp who recorded a time of 28.90.

Trevor Breen took more of the prize money when taking fourth place with Oldtown Katie with Linda Courtney taking fifth on her own H Two.   Another of the league pursurers, Paul O'Shea steered Day Dream St Ghyvan Z into sixth to take some more valuable points and keep him in the running for the top prize.

The penultimate leg of the league takes place next Sunday in Kill International before moving to Kildare International on December 6th for the finale of the Grand Prix season.

ShowjumpingIreland Autumn Grand Prix League at Kill

Paddy O'Donnell stole the show at the penultimate leg of the Botanica/ShowjumpingIreland Autumn Grand Prix in Kill on Sunday.

The Waterford rider gave a stunning display on Thomas Power's Harristown Princess to take the honours in the Allianz Grand Prix.  With 10 going through to the jump off, O'Donnell was seventh to go and set off at a thrilling gallop taking all the turns along the way.  They turned back tight to the final fence, the double a kicked clear to move into the lead with a time of 32.54.  The pair knocked Premier Series Champion Eddie Moloney and Chatsworth Dan off the top spot.

Second last to was John Floody and the very consistent Larkhill Cruiser.  They made a gallant attempt to claw back at O'Donnell's lead however, they proved slightly slower when stopping the clock in 33.05.

Eddie Moloney slotted into third with Chatsworth Dan having been the early leader.  Paul O'Shea took the next place and gained some valuable League points when taking fourth with Camiro De Haar Z.

Despite having a fence down league leader, Trevor Breen managed to take fifth with Karen Swann's Adventure De Kannan.  The prolific winner was turned back tight to fence 3 but took the top pole off.  They continued the remainder of the course clear and broke the beam in 33.43 to extend his lead at the top of the leaderboard.  Canadian visitor Vannessa Mannix took sixth with her own HHS Cherio.

The final leg of the league takes place in Kildare International Equestrian Centre on December 6th.

Botanica/ShowjumpingIreland Autumn Grand Prix League

The penultimate leg of the Botanica/ShowjumpingIreland Autumn Grand Prix League takes place in Kill International on Sunday where they host the Allianz Autumn Grand Prix.

With Trevor Breen and Conor Swail set to battle out for the top spot on the final National Grand Prix League of the Year, Kill will be hosting one of the most competitive classes of the league.  Both riders take three horses each to the Kildare venue where there is €3,000 on offer.

Breen holds a slender lead of five points following two wins in Cavan and a win most recently in Portmore last Sunday, all with Karen Swann’s gelding Adventure De Kannan.  He again is at the head of Breen’s string which also includes the consistent Oldtown Katie and the rising Bonjour Vieux Pont VDM. 

Swail takes his two winners to Kill on Sunday with Cara Touche and Uretto being joined by the very exciting Music Hill Cruise.  The former has caused a major stir across the country as the Cruising mare is proving to be one of the most watched horses in Swail’s string.  Both Cara Touche and Uretto have found their way to the winner’s enclosure with Uretto winning in Killossery and Cara Touche taking the Champions of the Year Grand Prix in Kill at the start of November.

Although Paul O’Shea is almost 20 points behind Swail, he is still not without hope of taking the lead, however he must win both final legs and hope for Swail and Breen to have a mishap each.  His win in the league came from Day Dream St Ghyvan Z in the second leg of the league when they won in Kernan’s in early October.

So with two legs remaining, Trevor Breen and Conor Swail will be going all out to make the most of the final two legs of the league in order to secure the final title of 2009.  With €3,000 on offer for the overall winner of the league both riders will no doubt be taking all avenues to ensure of success in this prestigious league.  The final leg of the League will take place in Liam Gaffney’s Kildare International on December 6th.

SWAIL TAKES OVER TOP SPOT FOLLOWING CHAMPION TOUCH

Conor Swail took over the leaders position in the Botanica/ShowjumpingIreland Autumn Grand Prix last night with a win on Norman Allen's exciting Cara Touche in the Allianz Grand Prix at the end of the Champions of the Year Show in Kill.

Swail produced a thrilling performance on the 8 year old Touchdown Stallion in a very fast and exciting class.  The pair took all turns possible including a very tight turn to the triple bar which proved a winning move.

Leader up to Kill, Trevor Breen, could manage only fifth on Adventure De Kannan although providing the fastest time but a fence down knocked him down the line up.  He still remains in second place on the league however he is now trailing five points behind Swail who takes over the leader's position with just three legs remaining.
