BRODERICK SET TO BE CROWNED TRM/HORSEWARE NATIONAL GRAND PRIX CHAMPION AGAIN

Tipperary rider, Greg Broderick is set to collect his second successive Title in the TRM/Horseware National Grand Prix League when the Final leg occurs on Saturday afternoon at Barnadown in County Wexford.

Having won the penultimate leg at Coilog two weeks ago, Broderick cemented his place on the top of the leaderboard as he had bridged the gap to 17 points ahead of Tholm Keane in second and could not be caught.

Having won twice at Coilog, coupled with wins in Barnadown, Charleville, Galway County and the Cork Summer Show, Broderick held a commanding for quite some time.  Wins came courtesy of Rincarina, Golden Exchange and the prolific mare, Mrs Quinn while he was also placed on a couple of occasions with the exciting seven year old, MHS Going Global.

Tholm Keane was the man who gave chase for the majority of the league and despite recording four wins with Warrenstown You 2, Keane was unable to close the gap any further.

There is some consolation for Keane and Warrenstown You 2's owner, Ronan Tynan, as the horse collects the Leading Horse Prize for the second year in a row.

Speaking about winning the TRM/Horseware National Grand Prix League, Greg Broderick said; ''Yeah I was delighted with the consistency of the horses all year.  Anytime you can win a National League is a big achievement and I'm delighted to do it again.   The League is very important to keep moral high in the yard and keeps the owners happy and gives us something to aim at constantly.

''I'm going to Lanaken after this weekend with three horses, Araghbeg Clover for the 5 Year Olds, MHS Shamrock for the 6 Year olds and MHS Going Global for the 7 Year Olds.  After that, I might possibly do a show in Spain in October before the Cavan International Show in November.''

A very confident sounding Broderick concluded by saying; ''Already I'm looking forward to the 2014 season where I'll have a really strong string of horses and I'll be aiming to win the Premier Series and hopefully make it onto some Nations Cup teams also.''

The evergreen stallion Warrenstown You 2 will again take home the Leading Horse prize for the TRM/Horseware National Grand Prix League.  His rider, Tholm Keane, holds a strong partnership with the son of Narcos and Keane speaks very highly of him; ''What can you say about him really?  I'll probably never have a horse as consistent as him.  He is always trying his best once he gets into the ring.  He enjoys it every bit as much as I do which helps a lot.
''He'll keep jumping through the Autumn Grand Prix League depending on what form he's in but the main aim would be to compete in the Cavan International in November.''

Also collecting a prize this weekend will be Young Rider, Vincent Byrne who claims the Pegus Horse Feeds Leading Young Rider Prize in the National Grand Prix League.

The Final of the TRM/Horseware National Grand Prix League takes place on Saturday afternoon in the middle of the €50,000 Irish Breeders Classic Show at Barnadown where many of the Country's best 5 and 6 Year Old horses are competing for the huge prize fund available in Sunday's Grand Final.
