ShowjumpingIreland launch The 2014 GAIN/Alltech Autumn Grand Prix League

The 2014 GAIN/Alltech Autumn Grand Prix League was officially launched at Ladycastle Stables, the picturesque yard of last year’s league winner Alexander Butler.  This year, nine venues are taking part in the league which is jointly sponsored by GAIN Horse Feeds and Alltech for the fourth year in succession.

Alexander Butler claimed last year’s GAIN/Alltech Autumn Grand Prix League title in the most dramatic fashion as the league went down to the wire between Butler and Capt. Michael Kelly, however, Butler provided a blistering jump off round to win the class and with it the 2013 Championship.  Although Butler was a previous National Champion, this was his first Grand Prix League Championship win while Harold MacGahern's Will Wimble also claimed the leading Horse Title.

Alexander Butler is having a very successful season and just last weekend he claimed the lucrative prize fund and title of Irish Breeders Classic Champion with the 6 year old Talks Cheap.

The 2014 League kicks off on Sunday in Ravensdale before highlighting the Cavan Indoor Championships on Sunday 28th September.  The League stays in Ulster then with Kernan’s in Crossmaglen on October 5th, Eglinton host on October 12th before the league comes back to Cavan Equestrian Centre on October 19th. Portmore and Killossery Lodge Stud in Meath host the league over the bank holiday Monday on October 26th and 27th respectively, before the penultimate leg in Wexford Equestrian on November 1st.  The final leg is again taking place at the Cavan International Show on November 7th.

ShowjumpingIreland Chairman, Tony Hurley is delighted to welcome GAIN and Alltech’s support for ShowjumpingIreland again this year.  We have enjoyed top quality showjumping this year at home and also abroad with GAIN and Alltech also supporting the Alltech FEI World Equestrian GamesTM 2014 in Normandy.  We are looking forward to a thrilling finish to the Grand Prix season with the Autumn League.
