DANIEL COYLE SECURES FIRST PREMIER SERIES WIN AT OMAGH

The current Spring Tour Champion, Daniel Coyle added his name to the list of riders with a Premier Series win in the fourth round of the TRM/Horseware sponsored League at a sun drenched Omagh this afternoon.

The Young Rider had been previously placed at the opening round in the league and he went a couple of places better today.

Riding Conor Coyle's Athlet Van'T Lozerhof, Daniel Coyle is fresh back from a trip to Hickstead when he competed the same horse in the famous Derby.

In a tight fought finish at the Omagh Showgrounds, Coyle edged out currently TRM/Horseware Premier Series Leader, Peter Smyth who was bidding for a second successive win, by little over half a second. The eventual winner stopped the clock at 41.14 to take the lions share of the €10,000 on offer from the Silverbirch Hotel and Dillon Bass.

Smyth, who was last to go with Victoria Rose did all he could to wear down on Daniel Coyle's lead, however the pair fell just short in 41.52.

Taking second today, Smyth moves clear at the top of the Leaderboard and lies on 25 points having won the last round in Cavan Equestrian Centre in June.

Galway rider, Stephen Moore is contuing to build on his partnership with the veteran Merlins Magic as they take yet another placing together. The pair were also sixth in yesterdays National Grand Prix while, with his other mount, Newtown Jumping Jack, Moore slotted into fifth today.

Another rider who in the ribbons yesterday and repeated the feat was Edward Butler and Cornet Son who moved up a place from yesterday in todays Grand Prix.

Louth County winners Paddy O'Donnell and Harristown Princess completed the line up in sixth place to move O'Donnell into second place on the Leader board.

Todays winner, Daniel Coyle now moves into the top six on 12 points following todays win.

Next week sees two legs of the TRM/Horseware National Grand Prix League take centre stage with Bannow and Rathangan Show on Thursday before the Cork Summer Show next Sunday.

National Balmoral follows Cork with the National Grand Prix on Monday before the fifth round of the TRM/Horseware Premier Series on Tuesday week.

After National Balmoral there is an important round of the Premier Series at Tattersalls after which the top 3 in the Series will gain entry to the Internationals at the Dublin Horse Show.

For now though, the spotlight remains firmly on Daniel Coyle and Athlet Van'T Lozerhof.
