Due to the bad weather in the week leading up to the Galway County Show, the Show Organisers made the call to move the Arena 1 competitions to Duffy’s Equestrian Centre in Claregalway in order to save some of the Show.

The change of venue, however, did nothing to deter the challenge from reigning TRM/Horseware National Grand Prix League Champion, Greg Broderick as he stormed to his third win in the League so far, following on from wins at both Coilog and Barnadown on Rincarina and Golden Exchange.

This time round it was the turn of the prolific winner, Mrs Quinn to take home the red rosette and the pair made no mistake.

Liam O’Meara had set a tough time to beat with Mr Coolcaum and Broderick had to pull out all the stops to collect another League win and moves further clear at the top of the leaderboard.

Following the win, Broderick spoke to Irishsport.tv and said; ‘‘I have been coming to the Galway Show for a long time and it’s a Show I love.  They did a great job to run the Show here with the weather moving it from Clarinbridge.

‘‘It was definitely the plan coming here to try and win the Grand Prix and I’m delighted it came off for me.

‘‘I think Liam did really good job, my mare is naturally very quick, he was very tight coming towards home to the oxers.  I think from the verticle (number 3), back to the double, I had a very good shot into the double and I didn’t have to take a pull there so I think I made up a bit of time there.  I needed to be as quick as I was as there was only a tight margin between us.’’

Long time leader, Liam O’Meara had to settle for second place with Mr Coolcaum while Joan Greene steered Chipigal into third place.

TRM/Horseware Premier Series joint leader Alexander Butler got a very good result on his new mount, Vimminka and they look to be a very strong partnership.

Olive Clarke returns to the Grand Prix lineup having been working abroad in recent years as she slotted into fifth with Snipe.  Reigning National Champion Michael Duffy took sixth with Westland Ruby.
