Young Rider Matt Garrigan took prime position at today’s Showjumping Ireland National Grand Prix, which was kindly sponsored on the day by Maryville Stables.
A field of forty-two combinations took on the Tom Holden built course with fifteen proving successfully clear in the first round to make it through to the jump off.
The jump off proved difficult with only five making the finish without knocking a pole.
Matt Garrigan and Contino 56 were eighth to go in the jump off and were the fastest of the double clears in an unbeatable time of 40.88. Darryl Walker and Kiss N Fly were last to go and tested Garrigans time but unfortunately could not catch it and remained in second place in a time of 43.13.
Third in the line up was current league leader, Liam O’Meara and his second horse on the leader board Curraighgrauige Jack Take Flight in a time of 45.18.
Another young rider, Patrick Hickey showed how talented our future stars are with a double clear on Martini Van Overis Z in a time of 45.25.
Last of the double clears in the line-up but the first double clear of the jump off was Francis Connors and Bobby Flynn’s Hyperion with a time of 46.76.
