COYLE EXTENDS LEAD FURTHER FOLLOWING ANOTHER WIN WITH UPTOWN GIRL

Daniel Coyle has all but sealed his name on the HSI/Blue Grass Spring Tour Title for the second year in a row following his fifth win with Uptown Girl this season at Mullingar on Saturday.

The Derry rider has been in exceptional form so far this season and with Linzi Johnston's consistent mare, Uptown Girl, the pair have been exceptionally difficult to beat throughout the league.

Coyle now moves to 64 points and is 27 points clear of John Floody in second place, which means that he cannot be beaten.

In Saturday's leg, Coyle faced 21 combinations that made it through to the Jump off and going last on Uptown Girl, Coyle had all the advantage and he made no mistake in overtaking John Floody on Kings Best who only briefly held the lead.

Floody was the penultimate rider into the ring with Kieran King's Kings Best, and he set a good time of 36.82.  However, Coyle blew that time out of the water, stopping the clock in 35.56 with the Concorde mare to record a fifth win.

Thomas O'Brien recorded another placing in the Spring Tour, this time with Valentino T who recorded a time of 36.86.

Army Equitation School rider, Lt David Power slotted into fourth with his new mount, Ringwood Abbey.  Power has recently taken over the ride on Clover Clon gelding from Michael Kelly and has started their partnership well recording a double clear in 37.46.

The winner of the Spring Tour at Kernan's Equestrian Centre, Sophie Dalm took fifth with Mandy Dalm's Unique in 38.94 while Damien Griffin was sixth with Tabby and also collected the prize for the Best Turned Out.
