COYLE TAKE BACK TO BACK WINS WITH UPTOWN GIRL

Daniel Coyle recorded back to back wins in the HSI/Blue Grass Spring Tour when winning the second leg in the season opening league at Ravensdale this evening.

Coyle, from County Derry, was winning once again with Linzi Johnstons Uptown Girl after the combination won at Kildare International last Sunday and the reigning Champion goes into an early big lead.

With Coyle also having Special Leap in the 5 horse Jump off, the Young Rider had a distinct advantage and he set a seemingly unbeatable time with Joe McElroy's mare when stopping the clock in 36.72. However, with a fence on the floor, the pair had to settle for third place as the fastest of the faulters in the Jump off.

Local rider, Tara Dunne was next best with her own Titania B while Derek McConnell had 8 faults to finish fifth.

This left the class between Sophie Dalm and Unique and the eventual winner but Coyle had the added advantage of being last to go and he may every inch count.

Dalm had set the standard in 42.38 with all poles intact but Coyle shaved almost two seconds off that time when breaking the beam 40.71.

Coyle goes to the third leg on 20 points with 12 points to the next best, Sophie Dalm and John Floody.

The next leg of the HSI/Blue Grass Spring Tour takes place at Cavan Equestrian Centre next Sunday.
