Brennan Family dominate the GAIN Alltech Grand Prix in Wexford

Wexford Equestrian proved to be a happy hunting ground for the Brennan family today as they claimed three of the top six placings in the Mary Barrys Seafood resteraunt and Harmony Solar supported GAIN Alltech Grand Prix league today. Claiming the top prize was junior rider James Brennan aboard MHS Jersey Girl when they delivered a double clear in a time of 42.37.

Owned by and bred by Sinead Brennan, MHS Jersey Girl is an 12- year-old mare by Cardento out of the Quidam Junior 1 sired dam MHS Prime Time. This combination has been in top form of late and placed fourth in the opening round of the SJI Premier Series in Barnadown. A total of 29 combinations lined out to contest this round which was supported by Mary Barrys and Harmony Solar.

Of the original starters, 12 booked their place in the jump-off and five double clears were delivered. Nicholas Connors and the eight-year-old Fornett D’Emeraude were just over a second behind, clocking 43.40 to take the runner-up spot. Owned by Ann Connors the eight-year-old gelding is by Cornet Obolensky and is out of Tapass. Junior rider Timmy Brennan and Diadema Della Caccia were a further second behind, stopping the clock in a time of 44.48 for third place. This combination formed part of the 1.40m CSIOJ Nations Cup in Gorla Minore in Italy in April. Bred by Della Caccia and owned by Tim Brennan, the eight-year-old mare is by Diamant De Semilly and is out of Cardentina Della Caccia.

Camilla Speirs followed closely behind with her own Ogue BT Special, delivering a clear n 44.86 for fourth place. This nine-year-old gelding is by I'm Special De Muze and is out of Ogue Carel Alice.

Jamie Garland and Zedlepplin were last of the double clears in a time of 49.46 for fifth place. Owned by her father Robert, the 14-year-old homebred gelding is by Luidam and is out of the Cavalier Royale sired dam Tillula.

Jack Brennan and MHS High Hopes proved that the time could be beaten clocking 42.02, but with one pole on the ground they had to settle for sixth place on this occasion. Bred by Ita Brennan the 12-year-old gelding is by Quidam Junior 1 and is out of the Cavalier sired dam Gowran Lady. This combination won the round held in Galway Equestrian.
