What the 2019 athlete’s had to say about the clinic:
I just wanted to say thank you very much for the opportunity of attending the National Training bursary in Barnadown Equestrian Centre this year. I am looking forward to hopefully attending the training again next year- John Carr.
I just wanted to thank the SJI and RED MILLS for putting together the clinic and making it all happen. I really enjoyed it and have come out of it with a lot of gained knowledge and experience, and the same for my horses that have come on leaps and bounds after the three days training. I can’t thank you all including the coaches, all the staff at Barnadown, yourself [Rachel Kearns], Mary, Sally Anne, Jane and everyone at RED MILLS enough for making it possible and giving all us riders this amazing experience and opportunity. – Luke Garrigan
Can I take this opportunity to congratulate everyone within Showjumping Ireland for such a fabulously ran training clinic, the athletes have gained so much knowledge and experience over the days that will stick with us for a lifetime, I am honoured to have taken part. – Mackenzie Healy
Thanks to the SJI and everyone who helped out at the bursary this week. I really enjoyed the few days and learned so much from the training. – Emer Kavanagh
It is great to have a sponsor such as RED MILLS sponsoring our young riders in the sport. I would like to thank my parents, grandparents, Sophie Richards, Steve Smith and Neal Fearon for getting me to this level.
It was a fantastic few days and I’d love to do it all again next year! - Isabel FitzPatrick
Jane Davis, Equine Brand Manager, RED MILLS said:
“Developing talent and creating opportunities is high on the RED MILLS agenda. When the chance arose to partner with the SJI to sponsor the National Training Bursary we felt it was the perfect fit.
This is a competitive industry and the more that can be done to educate and create connections for our young riders the better.
We were blown away by the feedback from last year’s Bursary and the standard of riding & talent that we saw over the three days. We are really looking forward to getting to know this year’s athletes and to work with them over the three days to develop their knowledge around the core areas of equine nutrition.”
Mary Ryan, SJI National Training Chairperson said:
“I have been very privileged over the last number of years to be associated with the National Bursary Clinic, so see it grow and flourish, to see first-hand the dedication and commitment of our Coaches – going the extra mile to ensure that our Bursary Athletes get the best possible experience. Our Committee also work hard to make the Bursary Clinic “Special” and to foster support and friendships between Athletes. To see Athletes, achieve and improve beyond their own expectations is particularly rewarding and this is the yardstick we work towards.
We were very excited last year at the prospect of having Connolly’s RED MILLS as our sponsor. The infectious enthusiasm of the RED MILLS team that joined us for the three days at Barnadown gave a whole new dimension to the Bursary Clinic. Really looking forward to the 2020 RED MILLS Bursary Clinic, to meeting and helping new Athletes and welcoming back those who return.”
