Reigning TRM/Horseware National Grand Prix League Champion, Greg Broderick moved a step closer to retaining that title when winning his fifth Grand Prix of the season so far and his second with Mrs Quinn at Cork Summer Show this afternoon.
The Tipperary native now holds a virtually unbeatable lead over Tholm Keane, who took second this afternoon, as he is now on 73 points, 31 clear with just four legs remaining.
This afternoon, Broderick stole the limelight once more with a fifth win in the League so far. Having won the Premier Series at Cork Summer Show two years ago, the Show has been a happy hunting ground for Broderick and he battled out a hard fought victory today.
Still with several combinations to go after him, Broderick recorded a time of 33.30 with the Laughton's Flight mare owned by the Caledonia Stables. They had a nervous wait before Tholm Keane entered the ring with Warrenstown You 2 and the pair were just touched off, recording a time of 33.99, just seven tenths of a second short of Broderick's time to had the League Leader another victory.
Broderick also took fifth with the very exciting prospect, MHS Going Global.
Liam O'Meara was not too far away at the finish in a very exciting 10 horse Jump Off with Mr Coolcaum as they stopped the clock in 34.70 to take third.
Reigning TRM/Horseware Premier Series Champion, Eddie Moloney was next best with his new mount, Pashmina K in a time of 35.65. This combination looks to be a formidable pairing having been placed on a number of occasions in a short space of time.
Linda Courtney completed the line up with her own HTwo taking sixth in a time of 37.21.
With a 31 point lead, it certainly looks very difficult to catch Greg Broderick who not only has five wins to his name, he also recorded three seconds so far also.
The TRM/Horseware National Grand Prix League continues tomorrow at the National Balmoral Championships in the new Balmoral Park ahead of Tuesday's TRM/Horseware Premier Series at the Belfast Venue
