Make-A-Wish Christmas Festival raises €10,000 for charity

All roads led to Cavan Equestrian Centre on the 5th-6th December for the Make-A-Wish Christmas Festival in association with Allianz Insurance and Showjumping Ireland. Despite storm ‘Desmond’ making driving conditions less than favourable for those who braved the roads, huge crowds ascended on the Cavan venue, for what proved to be an action packed weekend of jumping.

Chairman of Showjumping Ireland Tony Hurley spoke of his excitement with this year’s Make-A-Wish Christmas Festival, ‘’Showjumping Ireland are delighted to support this worthy charity, in the spirit of Christmas and giving, I felt this was an opportune time to host the two day show. It’s very important as an association that we give back to those who are less fortunate. I would like to personally thank all our members who came out and supported this year’s  Make-A-Wish Christmas Festival’’.

Make-A-Wish Ireland has one simple aim, to grant the wishes of children aged between 3 and 17 years living with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy, an aim Showjumping Ireland is pleased to lend their support to. A wish granted is true magic for the child, providing respite from their normal routines of hospitals, doctors and treatment.

Susan O’Dwyer  Chief Executive Make-A-Wish “We are over whelmed by the support we have received from ShowjumpingIreland and their sponsor Allianz Insurance these past two years, and are truly grateful for all their hard work that went into making this an amazing spectacular event. We would like to thank all the athletes who took part in Cavan Equestrian Centre.  We have many children waiting for their wish to be granted, so the money raised will make a huge difference to this wonderful charity and enable us to create extraordinary moments for some truly brave children."

Joe Campbell Business Development Executive – Allianz “We would like to thank everyone at Showjumping Ireland for all their work in organising the Make-A-Wish Christmas Festival.  We are delighted to work with Showjumping Ireland for a second year to raise these much needed funds for Make-A-Wish.”
